YouTube
After missing class on Tuesday, I figured I would be spending a fair amount of time just catching up in class. What I didn't realize is how mesmerized I would become by one particularity 2.0 site, YouTube. I must have spent a few hours on YouTube this weekend. I don't know if I am a TV junkie, but I could not help watching many of the videos posted on YouTube.
YouTube uses a very interesting concept for displaying its videos to the end user. While watching, it became very apparent that many of the videos were created in Windows Movie Maker by the video producer. After a video is created, the video is uploaded to YouTube. Once the video is uploaded, it is converted to Flash. The reason the videos are converted to Flash is simply that it compresses the file so it takes less time to download. What a novel idea!
After reading a few of the articles on YouTube, I realized that many believe this might replace the television as we know it. Users can create can watch "reality" type shows at their own discretion on YouTube. It might be a matter of time before we are all YouTubers!
